ER310 TIG Welding Rod – High-Temperature Stainless Steel for Dissimilar and Austenitic Welds

ER310 is a high-alloy stainless steel TIG welding rod formulated for joining wrought and cast forms of 310 stainless steel, as well as other high-temperature alloys. With a high chromium (25–28%) and nickel (20–22.5%) content, this filler metal provides excellent oxidation resistance and weld stability under extreme heat conditions. Its fully austenitic weld deposit is ideal for structural or pressure-related stainless applications that demand strength, corrosion resistance, and heat tolerance.

In addition to welding similar metals, ER310 is also a reliable option for dissimilar stainless-to-carbon or stainless-to-low-alloy steel joints. It requires low heat input during welding, helping reduce warping and preserving base metal integrity in complex or thin-walled assemblies.

Key Features:

  • Designed for TIG welding of 310 stainless steel and high-temp alloys

  • Fully austenitic weld deposit with excellent oxidation resistance

  • Suitable for dissimilar metal joining, including carbon and low-alloy steels

  • Welds in all positions: flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal

  • DCEN polarity for TIG welding (100% Argon recommended)

  • Smooth arc performance with minimal spatter and clean bead finish

Mechanical Properties (As Welded):

  • Yield Strength: 60,000 psi

  • Tensile Strength: 89,000 psi

  • Elongation: 34% minimum

Typical Wire Chemistry (AWS A5.9):

C Cr Ni Mo Mn Si P S Cu
0.08–0.15 25.0–28.0 20.0–22.5 ≤ 0.75 1.0–2.5 0.30–0.65 ≤ 0.03 ≤ 0.03 ≤ 0.75

TIG Welding Parameters (100% Argon):

Diameter Amperage
.035" (0.9 mm) 60–90 A
.045" (1.14 mm) 80–110 A
1/16" (1.6 mm) 90–130 A
3/32" (2.4 mm) 120–175 A

Common Applications:

  • Welding of 310 stainless steel in cast or wrought form

  • Furnace components, heat treatment equipment, and incinerators

  • Petrochemical and power generation industries

  • Dissimilar metal joining of stainless to carbon or alloy steels

Why Welders Choose ER310 for TIG:
When the job demands high heat resistance, corrosion protection, and versatility across stainless and dissimilar metals, ER310 provides dependable, high-performance welds in every position.
